Mikaean Family Church

The Mikaean Church, also known as the Family Church or the Mikaean Family Church, is the largest religious institution within The Mikaegeny, and the only extant religious organization within Mikaean interstellar society. It has played an instrumental role in the development of Mikaean civilization, serving as the primary sponsor for science and education and the development of the Mikaean language. The church is governed from the Mikaean homeworld of Family Pride, with the leader of the church being known as the Reverend Mistress.

Terminology[edit]

The Mikaeans do not use the term "church" in the same context as humans would for their own in relation to Christianity, but rather in the ancient Greek sense referencing the head of a household, an "oikos", who was responsible for his wife, children, and any unmarried female relatives. In this sense the term is applied in the case of the Mikaean Church, where the Allfather, serving in the capacity as kyrios or "master", provides guidance and direction in the lives of the Mikaeans in the same manner the head of an ancient Greek household would direct the lives of his family members. Any congregation of Mikaeans in an area can be properly defined as a "church" in the sense that it is where the spirit of the Allfather resides, where his guidance and protection can be found and felt by all members of said church.
