Ranks	Ranks and insignia of the Obsidian Guard

The Obsidian Guard is military organization of the Mikaegeny responsible for all military operations carried out by the country. It is responsible for the protection of Mikaea's national interests, as well as protecting Mikaeans around the globe and anywhere they may reside in accordance with the Constitution of the Mikaegeny, countering external and internal threats to the Mikaegeny's stability, and assisting civilian authorities during times of natural disaster. Currently, the Obsidian Guard is divided into three branches, the Obsidian Army, the Obsidian Navy, and the Obsidian Air Force. The Obsidian Guard has a total force of XXX,XXX,XXX active personnel, and another XXX,XXX,XXX in reserve, and is commanded by the Directorate of Hostilities during peacetime through its head official, n/a.

Rank and insignia

The ranks of the Obsidian Guard are unique in that unlike the militaries of Earth, the ranks of the Obsidian Guard do not differ from branch to branch, with rank insignia remaining the same throughout the entirety of the military. The only difference would be the name of the rank, which would differ from branch to branch based on the naming traditions within it. The strict hierarchical structure of the Mikaean military forces is often blamed for this issue, as the Mikaeans have historically resisted change on the basis that that which works must not be tampered with for the sake of stability. As such, the rank insignia of the Obsidian Guard's various branches bear no visible distinctions that set them apart from one another.
