Verônica Elza de Assunção (née Saldanha; born March 6, 1970) is an Azanian politician and 24th President of Azania. Having defeated Atasha Mayer in the 2020 Azanian presidential election, she was inaugurated as the 24th president on January 14, 2021. A Republican, she previously served as the junior senator for Tigela from 2015 until 2021. Prior to her political career, de Assunção served in the Azanian Marine Corps officer before running for and being elected to serve as the representative for Tigela's 2nd congressional district from 2003 to 2015.
