:Montu is a temperate Earth-like world located in the second orbit around Osiris. Considered the "second homeworld" of the [SPECIES], Montu is completely self-sufficient in all respects, and is considered the direct political rival to Isis. While Thoth and Maat are believed hold the real power in the system, Montu serves as the cultural and industrial heart for the Osiris system. Many of the system's worlds are fed by Montu, while most loans and advanced industrial goods for the system itself are provided for or manufactured by Montu. Indeed, so vital is Montu to the system's wellbeing, that it is accepted that the world itself stands far and above other member worlds in political standing and importance, desiring of a "homeworld" status rather than mere membership. Regardless, the political elite on the world itself as well as more "independently-minded" members of the population are wise enough to recognize an independence movement is not something Isis would stand for, nor would the rest of the nation's member worlds tolerate, Montu's economic role being far too important to their survival to be allowed to happen. Consequently, while Montu might disagree with Isis on a number of key issues, it works to deal with its complaints diplomatically rather than militarily, lest it end up like Set.
:Compared to the conservative nature of Isis, Montu's culture is far more relaxed and progressive in many respects. Freedom of expression is more common among the people, as is criticism of the government and its leaders. While this runs contrary to the sensibilities of the highly conservative Thoth and Maat, or the outright illiberal culture of Khnum, it is a welcome respite to those [SPECIES] from either world who travel to Montu frequently.
