Nemty is a desolate Mercury-like planet with the closest orbit to system's parent star, Amun-Ra (Alpha Centauri A). While lacking in any readily-accessible minerals to justify a full-scale mining operation on the surface, Nemty has found a pivotal role within the [SPECIES] economy as the largest supplier of antimatter in the system. While this status has precluded it from attaining member-world status within the government, Nemty is a major player in the energy sector, willing to leverage its status to attain special concessions that a world of its size and limited population would otherwise have.

The planet's population is located entirely within orbit and within the planet's lagrangian points in artificial habitats devoted to antimatter farming. Naturally, the maintain antimatter farms are located far from the Nemty itself at the L4 and L5 points, while all storage facilities are located on the opposite end of Nemty's orbit at the L3 point. This ensures that in the event of a catastrophic containment failure, neither Nemty nor the bulk of its population are at risk of annihilation. Nemty itself is incapable of feeding its population, and is entirely dependent upon food and water shipments from the other worlds in the system.

Nefertum is a barren Mercury-like planet located in the second orbit out from Amun-Ra. While similar to Nemty in terms of its terrestrial characteristics, Nefertum is generally regarded as a safer and more habitable world than Nemty, though its population is located entirely within orbit of the planet itself. While a surface population is entirely possible on the Nefertum, the lack of any appreciably valuable mineral resources within the planet's crust has generally made such a decision unpopular for the time being. At present, Nefertum mainly operates as a point of transit for goods and services between Nemty and the rest of the system. Foodstuffs, water supplies, antimatter, workers, and shipyards are all located within the orbit of Nefertum, though as with Nemty itself, all antimatter-related goods and equipment are stored within the L3 antipodal orbit of Nefertum as a safety precaution.

Because of the transient nature of Nefertum's economy and population, the planet is generally regarded as lacking an identity of its own, and struggles to secure any political influence within the system government. Indeed, so reliant is Nefertum upon the ebb and flow of goods and services that it is still heavily-dependent upon government subsidies during times of lean in the interplanetary economy of Amun-Ra, preventing it from moving toward full membership status. It is hoped by few true Nefertum natives that the development of a surface colony might encourage the development of a local economy and culture that can pave the way for the planet's membership status in the future.

Atum is a barren planet located within the third orbit around Amun-Ra. While Nemty and Nefertum service the energy needs of the system, Atum operates as both a major supplier of foodstuffs and civilian shipbuilding. The agricultural industry on Atum is empowered by the fact that nearly all water stores for Nemty and Nefertum are located on the surface of Atum, where the lower gravity and softer crust makes it cheaper and easier to set up in underground water storage and greenhouse facilities. Nearly all of the food produced by Atum is directed to the rest of the inner system, or sent off to the barren satellites within the system. Indeed, Atum has an exclusive food supply contract with virtually all of the military colonies within Amun-Ra. As for the shipbuilding side of the economy, Atum specializes in the production of the vessels carrying antimatter to and from Nemty and Nefertum, as well as in the repair and scrapping of such ships far from the heavily-populated worlds deeper within the system.

Compared with its two siblings closer to the star, Atum is content with its political and economic status. The population generally cares little for politics, and the economic issues and concerns that otherwise plague discussions within the circles of Nemty and Nefertum are far from the minds of the average Atum local. Thus, in spite of its location next to Isis, the political and economic center of the system, Atum is generally regarded as a backwater not worth the time or effort politicking or campaigning in. As long as there are customers for Atum's agricultural goods, and the antimatter industry demands hulls for the movement of its product, life on Atum will continue as it has before.

Thoth takes the lead in most respects regarding the economic end of pair's pharmaceutical research and production, while Maat is more heavily-involved in the chemical sector thanks to its sterile surface and lack of environmental protection laws. Because of the nature of the worlds' economies, the population tend to be more highly-educated than in the rest of the system; and when combined with the substantial presence of politicians and businessmen on either world, the inhabitants of Thoth and Maat tend to be overrepresented in the political life of the nation as a whole, so much so that many [SPECIES] believe the true capital is on Thoth or Maat rather than Isis.

Both worlds possess membership status within the nation, and make frequent use of their status and political connections to lobby for decreased regulation of both their activities and pharmaceutical and chemical exports. Because of the infrequent nature of oversight thanks to these concessions by the federal government, the two worlds became a preferred center of political negotiations, backroom deals, and what most would agree to be illegal chemical and biological research within the rest of the nation. However, as many of the most influential politicians in the government are natives of Thoth and Maat, the twin worlds are shielded from most inquiries into their dealings, as well as calls for increased oversight into the economic and academic activities of its inhabitants. For the time being, it is generally accepted that as long as either world remains the "second home" of the nation's political elite, the corruption all [SPECIES] know to be occurring there will continue without opposition.
