:Set is an arid Earth-like world located in the closest orbit to the parent star of Apophis. Violently xenophobic to outside power or influence, the inhabitants of Set are fiercely-independent and suspicious of their brethren both within the system and beyond. The descendants of prisoners, exiles, and undesirables within [SPECIES] society, Set was subject to the efforts of the other worlds to offload their lower classes within Apophis, far from the more developed worlds of the nation. As such, the inhabitants of Set have good reason to dislike their peers within the rest of the nation. Having been booted off to the barely-habitable surface of Set, the population has long had to struggle to scrapscrape together a meager, semi-viable existence without being entirely dependent upon federal aid. Because of the "less than ideal" economic situation on the planet, Set is blanketed with crime, poverty, and desperation. The local economy exists mainly to supply the rest of the system with processed mineral ores and heavy industry, though the more advanced sectors of the local economy are either still in their infancy or non-existent entirely, forcing the population to rely upon Amun-Ra and Osiris for support.

:Set has been a constant source of strife and conflict within the nation for decades, with three of the last major conflicts in [SPECIES] history taking place on its surface. Because of the general lack of federal oversight, financial support, and popular approval on the planet, Set is a tinderbox always on the knife's edge of igniting and causing yet another major conflict millions of [SPECIES] troops will need to intervene in to prevent a wider system catastrophe. Though the planet's population may be poor, the industrial, mineral, and agricultural importance of the planet itself within the system is too important to allow the populace to run completely rampant. As the only major habitable world with a biosphere in Apophis, allowing Set to disrupt the flow of goods and services to the rest of the Apophis's colonized worlds would be disastrous and potential result in famine, disease, and economic collapse across the system. As such, the federal government maintains a heavy military presence on Set, where troops frequently combat insurgents and rioters in the planet's many cities and mountain ranges.
