Rizalia, formally the Kingdom of Rizalia is an island nation in Pacific Ocean consisting of three main islands: Bagumbayan, Dapitan, and Magkaisa. There are five smaller islands surrounding the country. The capital city is San Diego, while the largest city is Talisay.
Rizalia, previously known as Lapitavatu, was a British colony and it declared independence in 1884. King Keola handed over Lapitavatu to Jose Rizal and his followers after Rizal rescued in Bagumbayan on the attempted execution by the Spaniards. After taking over the colony, Rizal proclaimed himself as the King of Rizalia and the Rizal dynasty has ever ruled since.
The Kingdom is a constitutional monarchy, where the Monarch serves as the head of state and the Prime Minister elected as the head of government. The Grand Convention is the unicameral legislative body wherein the members are elected every three years with no term limits.
Etymology[edit]
Before the Friendship Agreement of 1897, the country was known as Lapitavatu, named as the portmanteau of Lapiti and Tavatu ethnic groups. After the Agreement, Jose Rizal immediately proclaimed himself King and within the first month of his reign changed the name to "Kingdom to Rizalia", after himself, with the Royal Decree. Rizal is derived from the Spanish word ricial, meaning rice field.
